Who you gonna call?? From a young age, I've always believed in the paranormal and seen a thing or two with my own eyes. Now, I do understand that a majority of you go with 'have to see it to believe it', not a problem at al. There are many things in this world that remain unexplained but are we going to leave it all down to scientific substantial evidence? I hope not, maybe faith will eventually play a part in these strange happenings. I've attended many paranormal investigations over the years and find them fascinating, I'd rather attend one of these than go out on the lash to be honest. Am I searching for something higher than myself? I'm not sure but there lays a comfort for me when I am around this path. I am considered an empath, I feel the emotions of others, their pain and it can be over bearing but with the right guidance I have managed to limit what can effect me. This is done with meditation and Chakras, over the years I have looked into certain aspects of Chakra meditation and found that it not only balances your body's energy out but also your mind (or should I say mind frame?). Chakras, what are they? The word chakra is Sanskrit, the translation being that of a wheel or disk and signifies one of seven basic energy centers in the body that correspond to nerve ganglia, which branch out from the spinal column, as well as states of consciousness. Developmental stages of life, archetypal elements, body functions, colors, sounds, and much, much more. Together they form a profound formula for wholeness and a template for transformation. In today's society, the chakras have become more of a New Age deal; there are many interpretations of their meanings and functions being bandied out. like a sprouting tree. While this culture's practice is making the chakras a household word, it is also spreading a lot of confusing, conflicting, and often wrong information. It is important to realize that Chakras come from an ancient tradition and practice, which many today, have barely explored. In the Hindu following , chakras are said to be part of a foundations of ideas related to a human's anatomy. This comes from and occurs more in a class of text called Adamas or Tantras. In earlier Scripts, there are various forms and phases of chakras and nadis, with varying connections between them. Various traditional sources list 5, 6, 7, or 8 chakras. Over time, one system of 6 or 7 chakras along the body's axis became the prominent fixture as we know today, which was then adopted by most Yoga classes. This particular practice is said to have originated in the 11th Century (AD) with a popular belief soon up rising and gaining many faithful followers. My Spirit Guide I have a spirit Guide, her name is Anne, she comes from the Suffolk area and was born into the Edwardian period. She was the same age as me when I discovered her, 23yrs old and to my relief, has advised me through out my life from that day. We are similar in many ways, mostly personality and our views; we're both honest and loyal and do not like dishonesty, especially among those close to us. I trust Anne's judgement and will always lean on her for support when it comes to the paranormal aspect. Voodoo/Hoodoo - What are they? Voodoo is a religion practiced mainly in the West African Continent, as well as the Congo region. Hoodoo is a practice of magic, therein making both cultures different from one another. Voodoo can be explained as a religion; originated from West Africa, it is a following which is actually named as Vodun/Voudou. When it is spelt with a capital letter, Vodun, is dictates the religion, when it is spelt with a lower casing, vodun, it dictates spirit. In an english translation, we depict Vodun as Voodoo, which is more commonly linked with Haiti in this day and age, most people do not link this religion with countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Togo and other west african countries (where it is more dominantly practiced than on other parts of the continent but don't be fooled by what you see). Haiti has made a use of Voodoo in a more of a black magic witch path, rather than what it is supposed to have been. Voodoo/Vodun centres it's self around spirits and other elementarys revolving around the divine essence which rule Earth. Vodun has a single creator dubbed Buluku (Mawu), Muwa being the moon and the sister, Lisa being the sun. Each 'coven' has a Queen, she is named Mama/Queen Mother and is usually an elder woman in the tribe, one who is placed for her knowledge and practice once the standing Mother has passed. She is known for her main communication between the tribes and will place most of her focus on daily activities i.e. running the village accordingly, running markets and teaching her ways. Vodun practice the worship of creation, rocks, trees and nature. There are different ways of worship into this, which range from songs, dance, rituals, praising and god/gods. Followers truly believe in past god/ancestor worship and ideally believe that the spirits of the dead live with us, the living, side by side to us. Many people do not understand why the sacrifice of animals are born into this, to the followers/Vodun, the sacrifice of an animal is very common and is their way of showing respect, appreciation and thankfulness to the gods. Many believe that Voodoo is a source of black magic and evil but this is not what Vodun/voodoo was originated for. However, there is a dark path to it and one that is not used as a practice within the tribes; there are sorcerers (ressess) who are named the Botono/Aze, who are known to cast hexes and the black magic we see today (voodoo dolls etc). They are said to communicate with evil spirits to bring bad luck and harm to a person or many people. Voodoo traveled out of West Africa during the slave periods and eventually ended up on the island of Haiti/Dom. Rep, being predominant within the Haiti culture. However, this has been taken out of context in Haiti and is used as a form of control and is believed that those of status will turn their enemies into slaves. They do this by turning people into Zombies, there are many believed ways of doing this but stays within Haiti's. Outsiders searching for answers within Voodoo are unwelcome, those who have been there to study Voodoo have been hastily warned to leave and never return. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Hoodoo, is a mixture of Voodoo and local magic practices, also known as conjure. It is said that Hoodoo is a mixture of voodoo, native american and european magic practices, however, Christian biblical figures are used within this practice on a regular basis. Unlike Voodoo, Hoodoo does not have a line of hierarchy but is generally practiced more within the Christian community in the southern states of the USA, mainly within the African-American community. Traditionally, a Nomadic person would be founded as a traditional Hoodoo Doctor but most of their 'spells', as such, can be found within traditional 'Folk Remedies'. Below is a copied texted, explaining the practices of Hoodoo; The goal of hoodoo is to allow people access to supernatural forces to improve their daily lives by gaining power in many areas of life, including luck, money, love, divination, revenge, health, employment, and necromancy. As in many other folk religious, magical, and medical practices, extensive use is made of herbs, minerals, parts of animals' bodies, an individual's possessions, and bodily fluids, especially menstrual blood, urine and semen. Contact with ancestors or other spirits of the dead is an important practice within the conjure tradition, and the recitation of Psalms from the Bible is also considered magically effective in hoodoo. Due to hoodoo's great emphasis on an individual's magical power, its basic principles of working are generally felt to be easily adapted for use based on one's desires, inclination and habits. Home-made potions and charms form the basis of much old-time rural hoodoo, but there are also many successful commercial companies selling various hoodoo components to urban and rural practitioners. These are generally called spiritual supplies, and they include herbs, roots, minerals, candles, incense, oils, floor washes, sachet powders, bath crystals, and colognes. Many patent medicines, cosmetics, and household cleaning supplies have been also aimed at hoodoo practitioners and have found dual usage as conventional and spiritual remedies. Apparently, so they say 'Hoodoo can not effect you, unless you believe' but to fear someone can be belief enough to believe................... |
